We want to take you for your continued support as we navigate the unprecedented challenges brought on by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
While we have cause for caution, we also have a lot of reasons for optimism. In the last few months, we have had to navigate many challenges that we never imagined we would be facing.
In late February, we applied for the NH Lakes Grant for the Swains Lake Host Program and we were approved! We also asked the NH Lakes Association for input and guidelines for us to successfully support these efforts at the Swains Lake Boat Launch. Our Lake Host Team, headed up by Cindi Harrington, started Memorial Day weekend and will be there through Labor Day. During the 2019 season, the team inspected 1,666 boats (818 motor and 835 non-motor boats) as they entered the lake.
We remain dedicated to offering you a fun lake experience with the quality and safety you expect. We are continuing to have our Monthly Meetings, via Zoom, but seems to be going well. We have voted to still have our July 4th Boat Parade on Swains @ 5pm. This should be a fun night. We ask that everyone follow all NH Guidelines posted at that time to ensure we have a safe and fun event (we will post more details as the time arrives).
We have been addressing the normal issues we do throughout the year, finding new rocks to mark in the Lake, reported fertilizer spills to NH Lakes (we had a small algae bloom in late October and it was reported back to be from a weed killer or something similar). We need your help in keeping this type of chemical out of the Lake.
Water testing will start as soon as possible. Due to UNH’s closure for COVID, testing samples are currently not being accepted. Thanks to Pat & Roger Gingrich and Pat Lenzi for this effort to help keep our lake healthy and clean. The more we know about water conditions, the better we can be at helping to address.
