Even as little as one gallon of gasoline spilled can contaminate drinking water wells, and public water supplies. Use caution draining gasoline from boats, mowers or snow blowers.
Use non-toxic and less-toxic alternatives to household products and yard pesticides. Be sure to take leftover hazardous waste chemicals to the proper collection site each “Hazardous Waste Day.” Here in Barrington it is once a year in the early Spring. We will begin next year to announce the date on our website, Twitter, and Facebook.
Always refuel snowmobiles and ice augers on shore, and never take gasoline storage containers onto ice covered lakes.
